Sooooo… when I was a child I was supposed to get braces, but my father refused because being a classical soprano he didn’t want it to change my voice. Now a billion years later I am having to pay the piper. Due to some complications I am having to have braces. Invisalign braces to be exact.
The main difference between normal braces and these ones is that you wear them for a minimum of 22 hours a day and take them out when you eat. Why am I sharing this information with you guys? Well, when you cook it is incredibly important to taste as you go. It’s one of the first things they teach you at culinary school. Taste, taste, taste! When you have Invisalign your ability to taste as you go pretty much flies out the window. At the moment, I feel like I’m cooking blind and I don’t like it wails.
This recipe isn’t an Edmonds recipe, but I wanted to share it with you. It was my first attempt at creating something without the ability to taste as I go, and I have to say, the end result is heavenly.
The cupcakes themselves are so moist. I have used coffee in the mix to enhance the chocolate flavour, but I want to reassure you that just like my chocolate cake recipe you can’t actually taste the coffee. I have a family member who is very sensitive to the taste of coffee and he happily munched away on these. These cupcakes will also last for at least 5 days in an airtight but probably longer to be honest.
Finally, I want to dedicate this recipe to the lovelies at Embrace Orthodontics. You guys are truly awesome xx
Until next time,
Happy cooking! xx
